With Thanksgiving right around the corner (where did the month of October go?!), it is a time to reflect on what we are thankful for. I wanted to spend this time to share my 5 top reasons why I am thankful to be a Hawkeye:
1. The camaraderie between Hawkeye alums and fans all over the country (and beyond) is amazing. Anyone else love wearing Hawkeye gear outside of Iowa City just to hear a random person yell ‘Go hawks!’ at you…and then strike up a thirty-minute conversation with said person?
2. Hawkeye traditions: Gameday in Iowa City, attending Dance Marathon, visiting Rusty the Sloth in the Natural History Museum, pizza at the Airliner, Homecoming parade and the list goes on and on.
3. It is a privilege that the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics is on the UI campus. UIHC staff and researchers are making amazing progress in medicine and science every day. We have a world class health facility at our fingertips and I take that for granted everyday.
4. Iowa City is the home base for all of us Hawkeyes and who doesn’t love Iowa City? With the many festivals, unique shops, yummy restaurants and small town-big opportunity feel, everyone who comes to Iowa City falls in love with this city by theĀ river.
5. All Hawkeye athletics & sports! I’m especially thankful the Hawkeye football team is going bowling this year!
Happy Thanksgiving Hawkeyes!
