Photo Tour of the Admission Visitors Center Posted on November 11, 2010November 18, 2010 We thought we would show you a typical day in the Admission Visitors Center – enjoy the photo tour! This is a view of the Pomerantz Center! Many of you are probably unfamiliar with this building, as it was built and finished in 2005. It sits right across from the Chemistry building on Market St. The Admission Visitors Center is located on the first floor, and other departments such as the Academic Advising Services and the Career Center are located on the second and third floors. Continuing our tour of the reservation area, this is where students and parents will await their visit of campus, or to meet with one of our admission counselors. As you can see, we have a wall filled with information regarding all of our areas of studies. We encourage students to visit the wall to pick up the materials for their specific area of study. This is also where we would pull materials for students who request additional information on their evaluation form, and for college fairs that are catered to certain subjects. This is the reservation area of the Admission Visitors Center. Pictured is our Reservation Manager, Katie. On this particular day, Katie and the other reservation staff helped over 200 students and family members visit campus! Herky is also considered one of the staff, as he helps to greet the potential Hawkeyes at our front entrance. This Herky statue is inspired by the artist Jackson Pollack, and its beautiful design brings a little art and culture into our office! Here is another picture of our reservation area, and as you can see, we have several students on staff to help guide students and parents throughout their visit day. Here is a view of our lovely work room, where the students and full time staff will find all of the necessary materials and publications for aiding prospective Hawkeyes! This is also where all of the boxes for the college fairs are made, and where Chelsea spends most of her time. Here is an overview of all the materials that Chelsea normally sends in the box for the college fairs! This student works as the admissions support staff and her duties include assistance with inventory of the University publications, managing the office mail, stocking the storage room and as seen here preparing the daily folders for student visits. Here is Joanna Halsch, the ASIST coordinator, answering all ASIST questions and needs.
