Welcome to the new ASIST blog! I created this ASIST blog not only for your reading enjoyment, but also in the hopes that you could find timely information here and keep up on University & Admissions updates. I plan on blogging every few weeks or so, and will include a message from me and/or Chelsea (my amazing ASIST student coordinator whom I’m sure a lot of you have spoken with!) and other news articles released by the UI. There are also tabs at the top to check out if you want to learn more about Chelsea and I or link to the ASIST page. Please feel free to comment as you wish or let me know if you have any suggestions!
I recently sent out the new ASIST manual, Travel Piece & Viewbook – I hope everyone got one! If not, please let me know and I’ll get a packet sent to you ASAP.
College Fairs are in full swing already! Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to help! We have already signed up for 85 college fairs across the country! A new record that couldn’t be achieved without our wonderful volunteers!
Homecoming is this week on campus! And it’s going to be a fun week! The theme this year is Hawkeye State of Mind, so I definitely need to score one of the t-shirts. Here is a link to the Homecoming website if you want to check it out: http://homecoming.uiowa.edu/ The Admissions Visitors Center is getting into the spirit and doing a themed week with Twin Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Day and of course Hawkeye Spirit Day!
Anyone coming back for the Homecoming parade or the game? The game is against Penn State at 7:00 pm on Saturday, Oct. 2. I am going to be in Alumni Band (anyone else in Alumni Band??) and pretty excited to relive my days as a Hawkeye Marching Band member. It was a really cold night game last year so I hope it’s a little bit warmer.
If you plan on being in town during one of the days of Homecoming, stop into the Admission Visitors Center in the Pomerantz Center – I’d love to meet you!
On Iowa and GO HAWKS!
Joanna
Jo- You were in the marching band??? That is awesome!! The Alumni Marching Band always has a spot in the parade, right in front of the current marching band- they always seem to have such a great time playing again!
Hi Jo and Chelsea! Love the website and miss both of you!!
